The Maryland State Department of Education, in consortium with four-year colleges and universities with teacher preparation programs and local school systems, is implementing a three year grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3).

This project, centering on the use of data to support both schoolwide and individual instructional decisions, has three major goals:

  1. To prepare preservice teachers to use technology to interpret and analyze student and school data to develop data-driven instructional decisions;
  2. To prepare preservice teachers to design, deliver and assess learning experiences that integrate technology, are data-driven, and are designed to improve student achievement; and
  3. To develop a statewide online resource center, the MTTS Online, for preservice teachers and teacher educators to access the Maryland Teacher Technology Standards (MTTS) and related performance task resources.
